What Matters Most

What Matters Most

There are moments in life that don’t announce themselves.
Moments that shift your perspective on health, family, and what matters most.

Recently, I experienced one of those moments…

A medical issue that required a cardiac procedure—something I’ve discussed countless times with patients—suddenly became personal. Very personal.

Everything is okay.

But in that space of uncertainty, something shifted.

Where The Mind Goes

When you’re faced with the possibility that something isn’t right… your mind has a way of simplifying things.

It doesn’t go to schedules.
It doesn’t go to responsibilities.
It doesn’t go to the noise we usually carry.

It goes somewhere quieter.

For me, it went home.

What “Home” Really Means

Not just a place.

But a feeling.

The sound of laughter in another room.
The small, ordinary moments that we often overlook.
The memories that don’t feel significant at the time—but somehow become everything later.

As a physician, I spend a lot of time encouraging others to take care of their health.

This experience reminded me—again—that those conversations aren’t theoretical.

They’re deeply human.

They’re about time.
And what we choose to do with it.

The Film

This reflection became the starting point for a short film I recently created.

👉[Watch the film here]

It’s built around a song written and performed by my daughters—a piece that captures the feeling of growing up, memory, and what “back home” really means.

I paired their voices with a quiet sunrise and old home footage.

Nothing dramatic.
Just a space to remember.

A Simple Reminder

If there’s anything I hope this piece offers, it’s this:

Take care of your health.

Not out of fear.
But out of respect for the life you’re living… and the people who are part of it.

We don’t need a major moment to remind us what matters most.

But sometimes…

we get one anyway.
